PMV guides emergency instructions in some special cases
Accidents are unexpected and always make us very scared and confused. They can cause minor injuries outside the bodies or the damages inside. In many situations, if the wounded are not given first aid correctly, they are very dangerous even lose their lives in the moment. So giving first aid is one of the most important life skills and necessary for everyone, especially for professional guards performing the tasks.
Phat Minh Vuong (PMV) security services company shares some emergency steps when victims fall into the special accident as follows:
1. Foreign objects enters the respiratory tract:
– If the victim is conscious: Apply Heimlich method. This is the approach to take advantage of air remaining in the lungs to push foreign objects out. The method: You stand behind the victim and place a leg between the legs of the victim. Put your hand on the abdomen on the navel of the victim, clench so that the palm touches the victim abdomen while your other hand grabs that hand. Tug your hands in the direction from front to back and from bottom to top. Must do it decisively.
– If the victim is unconscious: The victim is unconscious because of no emergency when stop breathing or the Heimlich method has no results. You use the abdominal thrust method. The method: Place the victim lay up and straight, you genuflect cross the victim. Put your hand on the belly of the victim above the navel, place your other hand on the hand placed on the abdomen.
Use the power of the body leaning the victim’s stomach in the direction from top to bottom and from the belly toward the victim’s mouth, press 5 times then open the victim’s mouth to watch foreign objects get pushed up or not. If not, you continue breathing support 2 times, press 5 times, and review the victim’s mouth. When foreign objects are found in the victim’s mouth, use your index finger to retrieve foreign objects.
Continue breathing support 2 times if: breathing gets chest: the airway is allowed, change to artificial respiration (if the victim stops breathing) or stop (if the victim is breathing spontaneously). Breathing does not get chest, the airway is not allowed, continue to press the abdomen.
Note: You need to calm down and not leave the victim to call others support. If the victim is unconscious due to foreign objects entering the respiratory tract, before pressing the abdomen 5 times, implement breathing supports 2 times. Just let the victim lay normally when foreign objects are certainly removed from the airway.
– If the victim is conscious and you are alone: Use a chair, lean the upper abdomen above the navel to the shore of the chair, use the weight of the folded body to push the air from the lungs out.
– If the victim is a child: Turn the child down on his stomach, lift the legs up and take the head down, pat the shoulder blade area 5 times to check whether foreign objects are ejected or not. If not, give breathing supports 2 times and tap. Open child’s teeth, if there are large foreign objects, carefully reach into the inside hook to take out. If the child lay motionless, do CPR while he or she is taken to hospital.
2. The victim stops breathing but the heart is beating:
– Conduct “breathing support” method for the victim but does not press the heart. Here are steps. Tilt the victim’s head. Check that the victim had actually been apnea or not within 5 seconds. If the victim has stopped breathing, but the heart still beats, blow into the victim’s mouth slightly 2 time until the victim’s chest widens. Use the method “breathing support and circulation support”.
Check the breathing and heart rates of the victim after 2 time breathing supports. If the heart is beating but the victim is not breathing, give breathing supports in a period every 5 seconds. So, after one minute, you will help the victim breathe from 10-12 times. Then check the victim and continue the cycle until there are the following situations: The victim starts breathing again, stop breathing support. The heart stops beating, start doing method “breathing support and circulation support”. There are facilities to help breathing or have other people instead. You are too tired, can not continue any longer, it is imperative to stop.
3. The victim is drowning:
– What not to do: Do not immediately jump into the water if there is hesitation and no training on the underwater rescue. Do not swim over 50 meters to rescue the victim although you are a good swimmer.
– What to do: Provide poles, throw buoys and use boats. Undress the victim and dry his or her body when he or she is brought out of the water. Low the victim’s head and tilt to one side for the overflow.
4. The victim is strangled: Do not use a hand holding the victim while the other hand cuts the rope. Because this will cause the victim and you to fall. Quickly put something on the ground to prevent the victim from being fracture when falling. Cut the rope and broaden it. If there are two people, a man lifts the victim while a man cuts the rope.
5. The victim is buried: Beware of landslides inadvertently while trying to bring the victim out. Avoid aggressively moving the victim. The victim should be examined. Wipe the victim’s nose and mouth to open the airway. Also pay attention to prevent another collapses.
6. The victim gets an electric shock:
First, have a power outage. Do CPR (note: getting a electrical shock easily causes stopping breathing and heart rate at the same time). Call the medical staffs soon. Notify the utility if the current is not cut.
Dress burns. The victim who was electrocuted must be carefully supervised, although it may not have any symptoms as soon as an accident. If the current is not cut, absolutely no contact with the victim because you could be electrocuted.
Do not use stairs or high chairs to climb because you can not stand firmly and easily to fall into the wire. Do not use metal or wet objects to hook wires. Do not try to remove overhead power lines.
7. The victim is asphyxiated by carbon dioxide (CO2) or carbon oxide (CO):
Take the victim out of asphyxia early and put fresh air. Do not go down to the cellar because there are poisonous gas. Open to the door for air to rush in basement rooms. Tie the rope in the hip when you want to go into the confined atmosphere.
PMV also stresses: “If the victim is in danger or the witness is so embarrassed that he or she does not give first aid, should immediately call 115”.
